Splitscreen

Splitscreen is a data visualization project developed during my exchange at Tokyo University of the Arts. In the almost centinary history of the Academy awards, only 17% of all nominees at the Oscars since 1929 have been women. Only 8 women have been nominated for best direction, with just 2 of them winning. I analyzed the 500 highest ranking movies of all time, according to TMDB, to see how women are represented in movies through the Bechdel test, and how women are present in front and behind the camera.
